“Great price and location, bad service!”

  , Surprise
For my birthday I planned to go out in downtown Scottsdale and stay overnight in a hotel, since this would be less expensive than a cab from where I live. I picked this hotel because it was the best location and the best value. My problems with service started the night I tried to book the hotel. I had questions about the offerings of rooms on the website and called in to the Howard Johnson to inquire directly. The girl at the front desk was clueless. She knew absolutely nothing about the rooms they had or prices. I am not really sure she even worked there. She referred me to the 800 number where I was connected to the lovely Philippines. I love the Philippino people but they know nothing about the hotels in Scottsdale, Arizona. After a long drawn out conversation I finally decided to book the suite because I wasn't sure exactly what I was getting with the other rooms. I checked in the night of my birthday prior to going out with no issues. The next morning my husband left his clothes behind with shoes and an i-phone charger which I did not see when I left. That night I called in to see if they found his stuff and guess who answered the call? Yes, it was the clueless girl again. Here is our conversation Me: good evening, I stayed in room 10* last night and my husband left behind a white thermal sweatshirt with grey stripes, blue shorts, a pair of blue and white shoes and an i-phone charger. Do you know this was found when they cleaned my room?Clueless girl: I don't know.Me: Can you find out please?Clueless girl: Ummmm....ummm...well...ummm... I don't see anything. Ummmm...there is a lost and found box...umm... I don't know where it is. Umm...yeah I don't see anything. Me: Is there someone there that knows where the lost and found box is?Clueless girl: Ummm...ummm...actually...umm..no there is not. Me: How can I find out if my stuff was found?Clueless girl: Let me take down your number and I can have them call you in the morning.Do you think I ever got a phone call? NO! I finally called in spoke to someone during the day who said that my stuff was never found and they would call me back if they do find it. I still have not got a phone call. I don't really care that much about the stuff, my husband was upset I left behind his favorite pair of shoes. Long story short, I will not be visiting anymore Howard Johnsons, I guess the ol "you get what you pay for" saying is true.
