“It worked ok”

Really wish you guys had some friendly customer service folks working the front desk. When I called the day before arrival just to confirm my room, the gentle man who answered the phone barely spoke English, and answered the phone with a simple hello, never addressing that I was calling the Howard Johnson. When I asked to speak to someone else, he hung up, I called again, and I got someone else, who was a little better, but when I asked about my reservation, he said he has nothing under my name or reservation number, and I would have to call reservations at a different number. I got angry at this point, called the reservations desk, and was helped by a very poilite gentleman who spoke clear and smoothly so I could understand. I explain my situation, and he looks me up and found me no problem. We verified everything and I called back to the hotel, to still be told they don't show me. I call the reservations desk yet again, and was lucky to get the same guy as the first time, Told him they still don't show my reservation, he says may I place you on hold while I call the hotel myself. Such a mess I tell you. When he came back on the line he assured me everything was good to go, and send me an email for confirmation. One of the main reasons I choose to stay at HOJO is the no parking fee for our rental car and complimentary breakfast. I guess that's their selling points, parking was never an issue however, breakfast was very simple and very few items to choose from. We still took the kids elsewhere to eat. The outside of the hotel looks very run down, however by much surprise, the inside of the rooms were fresh, clean, and cozy beds. We requested for extra towels prior to checking in, and they honored the request perfectly. One other complain, the train tracks are behind the hotel, never were they mentioned, the trains rumble thru every 15-20 mins and the first time they went by, it felt like an earthquake. Unfortunately, I would not plan to stay here again, simply for the poor customer service, but if you just want a place to crash and don't care about the rest, go ahead.
