“Only attraction was price”

This hotel is a dump, and its management couldn't care less about that fact. They were shockingly rude, and had no interest in retaining customers. Housekeeping stopped by twice during our five-day stay, to make the beds. Providing any of the room amenities (including toilet paper) was completely beyond them. We had left the "please clean the room" tag on our door, and when we came back 12 hours later, nothing had been done. When we called the front desk, we were told that housekeeping had left for the day, but that we shouldn't put the tag out in the future, as the maids couldn't read, and thus would avoid any door with a tag. (This, despite the fact that one side of the tag shows people sleeping, while the other shows them leaving--I'm pretty sure you can figure it out without reading the witty tagline. Of course, if you can't, why leave them in the room at all?)Breakfast was a fairly shady experience. Coffee might be provided, but then again, it might not. Don't ask them to brew another pot-when it's gone, it's gone, no matter the time of day. Juice? Maybe. If it's a weekday. And they feel like it. Stale cereal? Definitely available. Enjoy. Day-old muffins from the area grocery stores? Yep. No problem. The hotel is in an acceptable area, not nice, but not dangerous by DC standards, near the Maryland campus. There are only a couple places to eat within walking distance, but if you're staying at this hotel, they're within your price range. If you're going to book here, do it through a discounter, as we stayed for half price of their tourist season inflated prices. Going through the Ho-Jo website would have doubled our cost, in which case we would have definitely walked out. I love the final question of this survey-"Did you know you can get the best rate at HoJo.com? Um, no. I checked. That website wanted almost $190 per night for the shadiest place in College Park. I'm sure this won't post with the name of the service I used, but let's just say it offers discount "hotels" and has a "com"mon web address ending...If you're spending more than sleeping time in the hotel, go elsewhere. If you just need a place to crash, and don't mind the neighbors making noise all night long, this place might do. (And I don't mean the fellow guests, who were fairly quiet. I mean the low-rent housing right behind the hotel, just on the other side of the razor wire.)If, on the other hand, you want to experience rude and incompetent staff at their very best, go here.
