“reasons for my rating”

  , Lynden
I used to think of Howard Johnsons as being in a class wiht Holliday Inn and such. Last year i spent several weekends in Holiday Inn Express and this summer several in Motel 6. Of all those times only one motel 6 was worse than the Howard Johnson. The staff at night did not seem very professional. Parking lot lighting was not very good. The Motel was near the Main Road I-5 but you had to exit right, turn left accross the high way and then left on a side road, That was OK but there was no clear sign marking the entrance of the hotel so we drove right by it.I see no reason for adding a charge for use of safe when I had no inent of using it and did not. (I don't think there was a way to track if I had used it. If there was then add to my bill in the morning. If not why add it at all?)Several rooms had tin cans outside the doors apparently for cigarette butts. These were on the walk way so I still had to walk by them. Not appealling. The bath room had only two rather small thing towels and no bath towel to step out of after the shower. The shampoo was in the litlte folded towel hung up and not on the stand wiht lotion so I did not see it till morning. Not a pen or a note pad.Bed was fine but only one thin pillow per person so difficlt to sit up and read at night.Continental breakfast was not nearly as appetizing nor as healthy as the one we had the previous week at motel 6.The rates were a bargain but I probably would not recommend it to a friend. Was not invited to be a part of Wyndam. SorryHope this is helpful.. John Van Schepen
