“Sadly dissapointed with Management/Keep driving past this one!”

My stay at this Howard Johnson got off to a unusual start. First the manager took 45 minutes to check-in the guest before me, after several failed attempts to secure him the room she had to call the night manager to come in and show her how to use his lodging card. Once my turn came around, she rudely waited on 3 other guest before returning to me. After she finally gripped about not wanting to give anyone a discount, because the night manager gave out too many (by the way I never asked for a discount & should I have been insulted seeing that I am black & the other 4 guest she waited on in front of me where white). finally she assigned me a room all the way in the back of the hotel near the woods & in a dimly lit area. I returned to the front desk to inform her that this room was not secure & safe enough for me and could she please give me another one. I asked for the King bed room with parking at the door on the bottom floor & suddenly that room was no longer available (interesting since she had offered it to me first & then said I have a better room for you). she assigned me the second room after searching for this room 10 minutes I located it, entered and was meet with the most disgusting foul odor & filth I had ever seen. I make trip two back the lobby inform her of my findings & she casually says, "We think one of our employees has a master key & is renting the rooms out & pocketing the money." My response was, "So this hotel is not secure at all!" She reply was, " We have security riding around on golf carts." Really now I feel so safe. I ask for my money back and she then tells me that there are no refunds. so now I am forced to stay here. Finally got into a room, which was scolding hot, because the air was not turned on prior to renting the room out. I called down to the front desk and she never picked up the phone.
