“Would not return”

The hotel is nothing like the pictures that it advertises. It is a run down 2-story hotel that was lacking in many areas. First, when I arrived, the tiny, dark, hazy lobby area (filled with apparently a couple of local loiterers playing video poker or something on a computer) reeked of cigarette smoke. I waited almost 15 minutes before the receptionist ever came. I saw her on the security camera putting down a toilet plunger outside the door before entering the lobby. I told her that I had reservations, but that I was concerned about staying because the lobby smelled like smoke, and I asked her if my room was definitely a non-smoking room, because hubby and I both have terrible allergies. She said, "yes". She took my ID and my credit card and charged me for the full two days up front (guess this keeps you from leaving, once you see your room). Every hotel that I have stayed at, settles your bill at the end of your stay. Second, the room had been somewhat modernized (flat screen tv and wood floor), but still stinky and outdated. The curtain looked like it was still there from 1979 and very dirty. When we returned to our room, our cleaning person had brought us 2 clean towels and washcloths and made the bed, BUT the trash was not emptied, and the used towels, washcloths, and bath mat were still in the floor. Third, the wi-fi never worked and the TV had very few cable channels. And last, but certainly not least, we were next door to a young lady who every half hour was bringing in a different man. Traffic was noisy and I did not feel safe. Lesson I got from this? You get what you pay for, and if the deal seems too good to be true...BEWARE! I would not return or recommend this hotel to anyone.
