“Complaint”

Dec 1 at 1:47 PM As a multiple cusomter of Destination Daytona, I feel we should be given a refund for the problems incurred during the stay at Howard Johnson Destination Daytona, 11/26 - 12/1. When checking in, the smoke detector went off with piercing noise alarm. I tried to use the rom phone but the phone did not work and could not call the desk. As our suite was a quite a walking distance from the main lobby and desk, I was going to have to walk there to get assistance. A few minutes later while I was standing on balcony/walk way in front of door as I could not stand the noise and remain in the room, the desk mgr. phones on my cell to see if there was a problem. I explained the situation and she and another onsite mgr came in the room and disconnected the smoke detector and took out the battery stating a maintenance staff would fix the issues the next day. The maintenance man fixed the detector at a later time but stated he could not fix the phone. We had NO phone to call desk or anything else the entire stay. And if anything was need I had to use my cell phone and my dime to call the desk. Then on our last night sometime in the late hours as we had long been asleep the smoke detector alarm went off again and frightened us out of a solid sleep. We took the smoke detector off the wall, and took out the battery to stop the horrendous shrieking noise. It was so unsettling and so hard to return to sleep we didn't get much rest and arose at 5am and packed to leave departing Destination Daytona by 5:50am. I can't believe this was the service we received as a guest staying 5 days/nights. We were never offered another room or upgrade and no discount on our stay was given either. We deserve a huge discount for this non-service we paid for. I expect a prompt reply and compensation from Howard Johnson Destination Daytona. Thank you, Delia Caskey
