“Terrible service”

We checked into this hotel and it seemed to be okay...the desk clerk, unfortunately I can,t remember her name, was super nice and friendly.Upon arriving to our room it was as expected...VERY outdated..wallpaper falling off the walls, battered walls and furniture, TV barely working, but for the most part clean.We unfortunately awoke the next morning to people yelling outside the door and discovered that they were workers working on the room next door. Now, I understand that the rooms need to be updated but they should not put guests near the work. We wanting to sleep in that day but couldn't.After going out for the day we came back to our room having not been made up. No fresh towels and the beds were unmade. It was late when we got back so we decided to let it go.The next morning we had to check out early and called the front desk around 7;30am to let them know that the room had not been made up the day before and that we needed new towels. She said that the maid service did not start until 10am and that she would send some up when the got there. I told her that we needed them right away as we were checking out. She said that she couldn't do anything about it as she couldn't leave the desk as she was the only one there. Now, what kind of hotel only has one staff working?? Well, this one does!!!Would not stay here again, the desk staff was unsympathetic and didn't try to come up with any solutions.TERRIBLE!!
