“String Break 2013”

Nothing fancy, but the rooms were fairly clean and the location is great. Love the beach bar, volleyball courts, corn hole games, shuffle board...so there is enough to do if you just wanted to stay near the hotel. Kids love the pool. Having it heated is excellent for kids that just want to be in the water, especially if it is cold. Had a major mix up with our reservations. We weren't exactly sure if we were going to get exactly what we reserved. It was a bit disconcerting, since we reserved the rooms 9 months prior. Leading up to our stay, we had several conversations with the hotel staff to clear it up, involving many levels of management. Glad to report that the management staff corrected the mix up and we got exactly what we reserved. The cleaning staff did a decent job cleaning the rooms. The hotel staff were very friendly, engaging us each time with a greeting. Keep that up and don't take it for granted. It's what will separate you from the rest of the hotels. In fact we had several friends stay at Alden, and HOJO's is by far superior in many facets.The negative: fridge in the suite could not keep our food cold. The freezer worked really well. I think the floor should be mopped more regularly. The video resolution on the TV's were adequate but at times had artifacts and not clear. The plus side is that the TV's were all HD.
