“You get what you pay for, I guess...”

  , Glendale
We were in a bind and needed a room for 3 days at the last minute...and we needed to try to get the room as cheap as possible. We found this hotel and booked it due to the cost.On the site, it explained that if I didn't show up or call to cancel by the time check in rolled around, i would be charged for one night's stay...I didn't arrive into California to check in until maybe close to 12:30AM (well past the check in time). So of course I was expecting to see just one night's charge on my card and nothing more. Yeah...when I walked in to check in, the guy had already run my card for the entire cost of the 3 days' stay!!! He had the credit card receipt printed out and all ready to sign by the time I walked in!! Never in my life had I ever had to pay for my entire stay the second I'm checking INTO a hotel...it's always been I pay my bill right at check out!!! WTF?! There were 3 of us on this trip and we were all going to pay for one night using our own separate credit cards...yeah...didn't happen. Then to top it off, he hands me a plastic key which looks to have a microchip in the tip of it...that's what they use to open the room doors there instead of just little plastic cards. When he handed me the key he told me that I needed to pay a $5 deposit to "show good faith" that I would bring the plastic key back...Look, buddy, what the heck am I going to do with some plastic key? Keep ot as a souvenier?? Yeah...don't think so. I told him that I didn't have cash on me...He kept pushing...asking me for "$3? $2? Anything?" Again, "I DON'T HAVE CASH ON ME!!" Is that so hard to understand??Anyway, on to the room...It smelt musty and when you walk around in white socks or barefoot, your feet would become completely filthy. The carpets are in dire need of a good shampooing. In the bathroom, the toilet paper holding was barely clinging to the wall...you needed to take extra care to pull gently on the toilet paper otherwise it would have ripped the hold off the wall taking a bit of the drywall and paint with it...The underside of the bed spread seemed to have what looked like blood stains on them (gross!) so we made sure to pull those off the bed before getting in.One person in our party wanted the heater on but said that it was broken and wouldn't come on...personally I thought the room was extremely warm anyway so I guess it was a good thing it was broken...but still broken none the less.I think the only good point about the room was that it had a flat screen...
