“Great Staff. Ugh Room”

I know this hotel is in transition now, but that is no excuse for dirty and was not mentioned on Wyndham Rewards web site. Pillowcases looked like they had been slobbered on. I slept in my clothes. Bottom of lamp was filthy. I started to wipe it and then just left the tissue for them and what looked like an old smashed mosquito and piece of cotton ? for them to see. Thick dust and grime all around air conditioner and rug edges. Stairs for handicapped mother. Requested 1st floor. The young man at the desk was awesome. He tried very hard to accommodate us. He gave me a key for 1st floor room. It was not cleaned, beds still used; I went back to check-in. He came with me, with key cards. showed me second downstairs room, he knew right away it was not good. Terribly smokey. That was another request. Non Smoking. In the end he took me to the original room to check it out. No it was not smokey. Yes, I had to take it. We were traveling from Key West, FL to PA, but he was the ultimate customer service, as was the manager in the A.M. Re: The next morning when we checked out I was asked if everything was satisfactory. I said, No. The female manager came out of the back and asked me why. I told her it was very dirty, there was garbage all over the ground. An actual full bag from the outside garbage can; there was litter and cigarette buts everywhere and it was not my requested reservation. Price was good and there was a 10% Senior Discount. With bad experience from the night before in Hollywood, FL, ....booking.com ... do not use them ! .... then this 400 + miles later, I canceled my other good deal motel in VA for that night and spent a lot more money just to be sure. I discovered you can never be sure. That is another comment. No I am not a complainer. It seemed like a nightmare because I was just trying to make my mom's trip comfortable.
