“Disappointing Value and Service”

  , East Troy
I was very disappointed with my stay at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Madison, WI. I booked this hotel for a girls weekend, having enjoyed my stays at other Howard Johnsons and Wyndahm hotels. When we arrived at check in, yes it was about 10:00, we left after the Friday workday, we were told that all the 2 double bed rooms, the type I had reserved, had been given away. The only solution that was offered was a single king room with a complementary roll-away. Since there was four of us, I asked for a 2nd rollaway and the desk worker said he would send one up if he had one. Having no where else to go, we accepted and headed to our room. The hallway was dirty, carpet staned and the walls all marked up. Our room was okay, it had a slight odor and the bed was so unstructured, I almost touched to floor when I sat on the corner. When the 2 rollaways arrived, we discovered a huge burn hole on the fleece blank out of one rollaway and dark spots all over the blanket of the other. We brought both blankets down for new ones and were meet with some rudeness. Again the desk worker wasn't even sure if she had more blankets, but after spending some time in the back she emerged with new blankets. My friends who slept on the rollaways were sucked into the middle of the sagging "mattress" and none of us got a very good night's rest. We spent the night and quickly departed in the morning. I know Howard Johnson is considered a budget hotel, but I paid a decent amount and am very disappointed I was not even able to get what I originally purchased. This will be my last stay at Howard Johnson.
