“Dirtiest/Scariest Howard Johnson I have ever stayed at”

  , Mililani
The first room we got was near the parking lot in the back. In that same parking lot is a grocery store and liquor store. The rooms on this end do not feel safe at all. It is very dark and secluded, also it is open to anyone in the parking lot. The window in the bathroom has no screen and is large enough for a large person to easily fit through. The door looked like a child could kick it open. The room itself was dirty. The carpet should have been changed out years ago. Everything about that room was old, worn and dirty; I take that back, the bed/linens were clean, if somewhat threadbare. The bedskirt however, had stains covering almost an entire side. I can honestly say that this is the first time I have stayed in a hotel with my family and did not feel safe at all. I was ready to pack it up and spend the $100 more a night closer to San Francisco. After two nights, I talked to the desk clerk and explained how I felt. He mentioned that that is a problem with those rooms. He then moved us to a room upstairs located in the middle of the building. He was very polite and mentioned that I should have brought up my concerns earlier so he could have helped us sooner. The new room was a complete change! The furnishings were new, the carpet was not stained as bad. If we had gotten the second room first, I would have had no problem with staying here. The only thing that we noticed was that both beds in the second room had hairs on the sheets.
