“Decent, clean hotel”

  , Ohio
We had to stay in the Hadley/Amherst/Northampton area on a busy weekend as parents were bringing their college students in for the new school year. We were there for other reasons, but as we learned in the past, hotels in the area jack up their prices on busy weekends. The $150 list price is just way too much for this rather basic hotel with 1960's décor. It was very clean, and the beds very comfortable. Shower was so-so on water pressure. Breakfast in the morning was ok - some eggs or real waffles would have been nice. We happened to have a free night from Wyndham points, and used AARP for the second night ($135 rate), so the cost was affordable, but I would not have paid $300 for two nights unless there was no other option. The staff there was super nice, and overall, our stay was pleasant. We stayed the next night in another state at a Comfort inn for $90 that was much newer, very clean, and a really great breakfast bar with real waffles, sausages, and mini cheese omelets, plus all the usual cereal, bagels and such. It is just amazing how events in an area can jack up prices on even basic older hotels!
