“Dumpy hotel in a dumpy area”

  , Winnipeg
As occasional travelers to the Fargo area, we thought we'd try a more mid-priced hotel. What a mistake choosing the Howard Johnson. The pictures must have been taken by a master photographer as they don't portray just how old and run down this property is.Parking is almost non-existent due to the bar and meeting rooms. The area is bad enough that you don't want to park your car out of sight. The lobby is a trip back to the 70's. The rooms, well, that is if you can get into the rooms past the worn out card readers, are smelly and no better than the cheapest, low-end hotel in the city. In doing a check for bedbugs, we found the mattresses were stained and had what looked like black mold on them. The pool was ok but the hot tub was so small four people couldn't fit in it. The wifi was slow and froze frequently.I'm really trying hard to think of one good thing about this hotel, but I'm coming up empty. If you cant afford a few dollars more to stay somewhere decent, save your money and get one of the cheaper rooms somewhere else. This place is one to avoid.
