“I normally do not do complaints or reviews but my fiancé...”

I normally do not do complaints or reviews but my fiancé thought that maybe we should to help Howard Johnson Inn and Suites Miramichi get some help to spruce up their hotel. We spent the day, Aug 2, on the Miramichi River tubing and were really tired from the day so we stayed at HOJO's. As I entered the facility, I noticed that it had a trip advisor award back in 2011 so I was rather surprised at the state of the hotel. It is an older building but it is in need of updating: better lighting newer carpets, maybe an elevator. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got to our room and noticed that there was a spots of red substance on the wall that it would not come off when we tried to clean it. We notified the front desk and immediately she came with some cleaning solution but the stain still remained. My fiancé thought that it looked like blood. The second issue that we had was with the toilet not having enough pressure to flush. As well as a black stain under the toilet on the floor. It looked like mildew but in poor lighting, I couldn't really make it out. The third issue was that there was not enough towels for 4 people to have showers the next morning. We used the towels after spending the evening in the pool. There was not enough pillows on the beds. When we called down to ask for more towels and pillows, the clerk was very prompt but only came up with 2 sets of towels (not 4) and only could find 1 extra pillow which he took from an unused room. We made do. The breakfast was not like other hotels that we have stayed in. Rather poor menu selection and only 1 toaster and 1 waffle maker resulting in lines. Some of these issues may seem trivial but when you save for a holiday you would like to have happy memories of where you have been. I have been to HOJO's before was and was very satisfied with that hotel. This was just one time. I'm sure it will be dealt with.
