“Dirty rooms, surprise charges, rude staff”

This was probably the worst hotel stay we have had. We called ahead of time and were told that they had a free shuttle from the hotel to Times Square. When we arrived we discovered it was $25 per person. We also discovered there was a $15 per day fee just to park at the hotel to stay there!! They didn't mention that on the phone or on the website. The staff was rude when we went to check in, and throughout the stay. One night in the middle of the night the smoke detector started beeping because of a low battery and the front desk staff took their time fixing it and acted like it was a huge inconvenience to them! It was pretty inconvenient for us and our 3 year old to be awakened by that at 3 am!! The rooms were dingey and felt a little bit dirty. It was just all around a pretty unpleasant stay. I don't think we'll ever stay at another Howard Johnson or a Wyndham hotel again.
