“If you have to...”

Initially, I called to book 4 rooms for one night. The first hotel I spoke with over the phone was very nice. I asked for 3 rooms with 2 beds and one room with a king bed and if possible, for the room to be close together. I attached one couple's name to the king room. I asked if saving the king room for that couple would be a problem. I was told no problem. I called back within moments as I had forgotten to ask about any discounts that may have been available. I was told by a different employee, also nice, that the rates I had been given included the discount. When we all arrived and , I noticed that the final prices of the rooms were different than I had been told. I mentioned this to the person checking in and he said that those were the prices of the rooms. I asked what had happened to the discount. He couldn't locate the discount price and was initially unwilling to give us the discounted price. He couldn't explain to me how two day employees had each known about the discounted price and yet he couldn't find it in the system. it took a few minutes of insistence on my part to finally get the discounted price. The employee was not cordial but rather cold. The rooms, although, they appeared clean, were old, beds UNCOMFORTABLE, carpeting pulled in places so that there was an actual wave of carpet in places,some of the lamps in the other rooms did not work, and when you looked around you could see areas where the cleaning was not as good as other areas. They have bar, which we went to. The waitress came right over but her manner was not polished at all and she seemed rather bored with us as we were ordering, too bad she didn't realize what good tippers we usually were. They serve a light breakfast which was danish, packaged cereal, and waffles, which were not too bad. The two ladies helping you behind a counter, not a word was shared with any morning guest. I would not make this a repeat visit.
