“1-800 service lied”

First of all, we have stayed at this hotel several times each year for the past 6 years. We usually get honeymoon suite, which was not available. When I attempted to reserve on line it was noted that pool was closed until April 1st but to call and make sure. I called 1 800 number and when I asked attendent if pool was open he quickly said yes, I then explained what I had seen on line and just wanted to make sure, he put me on hold and then came back on the line to tell me it was just pool restrooms that were closed and assured me that the pool was open. Upon arrival we walked past pool and saw sign "Pool closed until further notice" we asked front desk staff who said no one called and checked because they would have never said it was open. We were then offered to go accross street to local YMCA to use their pool. When we went to YMCA we were already in swin suits and had no money on us because they told us just to show room key. We were told by YMCA that there was a $5 fee per person so we said never mind and turned to leave. The staff at YMCA said Oh since there is only 30 minutes left just go ahead which we did. Staff the upon check out said that is not their agreement they have with YMCA. The manager did take $10 off our bill. I also have hotel direct phone number now which when I called 1 800 number originally they would not give it to me to check on pool. Also hallway smelled of smoke so bad, we had non smoking room on first floor but hallway smelled like old ashtray.
