“the worst experience ever”

I was told it was a non smoking rm, but the room smelled like smoke and there was sn ashtry with cigarette burns around it. The comforter was stained and faded, the chairs were stained and filthy. Carpet was old and smelly, lobby was unswept and dirty. Attendent is confined behind bullet proof glass and after a long car trip I was told lobby restroom was out of order, then a police officer walked in snd used it. Units were rented on a monthly basis to undesirables complaining about the rent. There was ladies of the night turning tricks and the front desk was unresponsive to my complaints and request for better accommodations. While requesting to cancel the following day reservation I was threatened with late fees equaling full cost of room. Front desk Attendent named Gary wouldn't even consider charging a reduced penalty rate for following day cancelation, bad business man. I would never stay at this or any other Howard Johnson Hotels ever again, Gary wouldn't even consider refunding rewards points as partial satisfaction.
