“Staying at a sketchy hotel”

The best thing I can say about this hotel is that the cleaning staff does a great job of making a very old hotel at least look clean. The outside of this hotel looks terrible. The lobby is not as bad as the outside - but nothing special. The inital contact with reception - she was pleasent, but we had to wait as she continually answered the phone. She did not put them on hold at any time - clearly we were not as important as any guest who was looking to still book a room. As we walked the the great distance to our rooms with all our luggage (no elevator) - the first flight of stairs had a bucket on it to catch the leak from the ceiling. The room itself was not special, but it was clean considering it has clearly not be updated for a very long time. While we got ready for the evening - another guest walked into our room - as they had been assigned the same room and given a key. At the end of the night - we could no longer get in our room, and I assume this is because when they activated the key card for the second guest - ours was deactivated. Did this not occur to the girl at the front desk? This meant we had to walk back down to reception again to get this corrected before we could get into our room.
