“Terrible front desk service & property needs upgrades inside & out”

Let me start off by saying the location is excellent. Easy access on/off to IH 10 hwy. Close to USAA. Property is Surrounded by eating & retail places. That being said, the property & staff need a refresher lesson on Hospitality 101. First, upon arrival, I requested a non-smoking room. The front desk person informed me that Priceline had made the reservation for a smoking room I would have to call Priceline & get THEM to change my reservation. I'm standing in the HoJo lobby, checking in. Why is it my responsibility to call Priceline to request a non-smoking room? I'm already @ the motel. Needless to say, she checks me into a SMOKING room, ignoring my request, so I call HoJo customer service & they are just as unaccomadating as the lady @ the front desk. They tell me nothing can be done because I've already been checked in. Seriously? So, I went back to the front desk again & after begging & pleading was finally given a non-smoking room as I had initially requested upon my arrival. Really? So much time & effort wasted that clearly could have been avoided. Second, the property & rooms are in need of a serious update inside & out. Even the local Super 8 up the street is better quality for the same price than HoJo on IH 10.
