“Disappointed”

When we arived they front desk said they didn't have our reservation. Which it was for two beds and 1 sm dog with pet deposit. After looking for 5 min or so they just booked us a new room. My children and I went up to the room to drop off our things and the room the clerk gave us look like a storage closet. Head boards and furiture still wrapped in plastic. When I told the same clerk he apologized and gave us a new room. I took my dog out to go to the restroom and was stopped as I entered the lobby. The desk clerk shouted across the lobby at me and insisted I pay the pet deposit or I was going to have to pay the 50.00 fee for not reporting a pet. I was embarressed first of all and thought we had taken care of that already. I explained that and then went back over to the counter to pay. The clerk then began to tell me all the ways I could pay the 10.85 deposit. I just said here is $11 that should take care of it. Then walked back outside to continue to help my husband bring in the bags. To my surprise the clerk then yelled across the lobby again to inform me he had my .15 cent change. I mean really. I have stayed with Howard Johnson several times before, being retired military, very disappointed in the customer service at this location.
